It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year...

Gotta love the atypical twist on a
classic like an LBD.
For a designer that is!!! That's right people, its PROM time! Now many of you know I work at a bridal salon as a dress specialist and I see tons and tons of high school girls come through and go on that ever eager hunt for the perfect prom gown.
This asymmetrical royal purple ruffle
bottom mermaid gown is all about
the WOW!
Well it just so happens that I have been working on a line of my own that all of you are going to be the first to see!! This year we will be seeing a lot of amazing trends and changes to your "typical" prom dress. From ruffles to hi-low hemlines all the way to the resurgence of the a-typical asymmetrical neckline, this season's "it" gowns are going to be anything except ordinary!

And just like the girls who will be wearing them these dresses scream individuality this season. Its all about the WOW.
You are going to see alot of red carpet inspired gowns as well as rich gem tones(lots of emerald greens, turquoise, deep purple, wine colors and royal blues), funky prints (in smaller samplings than we have seen in the recent past), ruffles, greek inspired draping, less bling and more subtle details, as well as a lot more down hair than our tried and true favorite updo. This season is going to be a BLAST! Sophistication is in and please ladies remember that more skin is not best. Keep them guessing and go for a sleeve, or for an ultra chic look head for the high neckline that has a daring back. This is your time to shine and love every last minute.

Love and happy shopping!

Boys, Boys, Boys

After quite a few requests,i have been pouring over mens fashion for the past weeks.i'm talking from couture runway to ready-wear at the mall.
Thus far my favorites are the following trends happening right now:

1. light grey blazer over light blue button up shirt I seriously ♥ this look!
This look is Nordstrom :) The feel is confident and cool and not to stuck up, a casual, chill dress up that I adore.

2. motorcycle jackets, not always the leather kind, i'm likin' the canvas lately too
This one is the classic Members Only version Again another cool casual look that is fashionable but still very masculine and almost a bit of a bad boy edge that I am an admitted sucker for sometimes ;)

3. Plaid skinny ties i LOVE! SOOOO great! This one I found at JannJ. When you combine tones that are supplementary the look is chic and BOMB.COM.

4. The final trend that I love of 2011 is the wide collar men's cardigan. Love love love. period. They are warm and cozy and makes me happy. This one I
found at style CEO.

Anyways that is just a few of
my top faves for guys. Just remember polished is ALWAYS a good idea :)

Love Always!

The Results Are IN...

And the verdict is LOVE!!! I finally got and put in my feather hair extensions and i absolutely adore them! They are great because they aren't too long or thick to where they are way off the beaten-boho path for my style, but just the right amount of fun and edge that I was hoping for them to bring! And as promised, here are the
pics!!!!! I just seriously can't stop playing with them in my hair! And fyi, it's totally true that you can wash, blow dry, straighten and even curl them. Because I DID!!! Yahoo! They are great! Hope you find some feather extensions of your own to try this new fun trend!!! Try them out and let me know how you guys feel about them and if you think this is going to become a fashion yes or no.

The greater the risk the greater the reward. Step out of your fashion shell and live a little!

Obsession

Ok so my newest obsession is this girl's paintings. Her name is Jessica Durrant and her fashion paintings make my day a gajillion times better. She has this amazing store on etsy that makes me drool! If I could paint like this my sketches would come to life soo much better. I love the fact that she mixes an eye for fashion with a beautiful knack for watercolors and paint colors. This one in particular was my favorite, as you can guess, considering it is covered in PEACOCK FEATHERS!!! yes yes yes I am obsessed. We all know this already haha!

Her fashion illustrations run anywhere from 15 dollars to 100 and they are soo totally worth it! I absolutely love love love them! I want almost every one of them! She has this new fresh eye for detail and thoughtful colors and styling its just the thing that any fashion obsessed gal would want on their walls! I know this one does! And just to show you some more of this gals awesomeness here are some more of my favorites.

This one was inspired by the movie Black Swan with Natalie Portman.

This one I just love altogether because it's simple and pretty and fun and elegant and just plain awesome!

Peace. Love. Fashion. All a girl needs in life.

My Newest Fashion Adventure!!!

okkayyy sooo asldfknjfdlghlsgekjrn! baha now that that is out of my system I can get into my newest risk and fashion adventure (which will be arriving in 3-5 business days)!!! Now these have been around for quite some time, in varying styles and on varying celebs, but this fashion girl has only just recently found a set deemed try-able for my discerning eye and taste level. Ladies and Gentlemen I am talking about FEATHER HAIR EXTENSIONS! Now I know what you are all thinking and I thought the same thing when I first heard about them. And no they aren't like those giant craft feathers you buy to make those ugly paper mache masks in second grade, nor are they just giant peacock eye feathers. No, these my friends are rooster tail feathers, the long and thin ones, which are in turn either dyed, or used for their natural colors (red, orange, green or black). All you have to do for these lovely extensions, is thread your hair through a crimp bead and then secure the feathers and viole you are ready to roll! And the best part? You can wash, dry, curl, straighten and even crimp these as if they were your own hair! You don't have to worry about putting them in and taking them back out every time you go to stle your hair a different way or you take a shower! Pretty darn awesome right!? I am why pumped for mine to get here so I can post pics for ya'll!!! And just as an fyi I got a set that were black, purple, gray, and dark brown!!! A tiny walk on the wild side for me? yes. A tad on the side of Boho? For sure. Worth it? Definitely.

After all, taking risks is what fashion is all about right?
We never know until we try, what works for us and what doesn't. And here are a list of some of my fashion do's and don'ts that I have personally been guilty of and have seen people out in on my own:

Do: Wear a peacoat that skims your hip level OR is just barely mid thigh
DON'T: Pick one that is anywhere near knee length! It can make even the tallest of girls, with the longest of legs, look stumpy and unattractive.
Do: Try out different styles of sunglasses that you haven't tried before. Case and point, me and my new aviators. Most people are scared to try new styles once they have found a pair that works because they don't think any other style will look as good, well UPDATE almost any style of sunglass has slightly differing variations on the same trend that will go with any face shape or style.
DON'T: For any reason think that those horrid, awful, terrible, light lensed, multicolor, wire framed sunglasses from early 2000 will EVER be back in style. Believe me that is one fad that needs to be thrown into the Mariana Trench never to be seen or spoken of again.
Do: Wear black shoes (especially heels) with black tights or nylons
DON'T: try to wear a brightly colored shoe or light shoe with black tights. It looks very cheap Halloween and anyone caught wearing said combo should have their style licenses revoked and be forced to sit through a 3 day marathon of What Not To Wear with my peeps Stacey and Clinton.
Do: Rock your style, whatever it is. Confidence is the best accessory that you can wear when leaving the house in the morning, it can give any outfit the edge that you need to turn heads.
DON'T: Leave wearing a style that you are unsure of or that you don't feel confident in. If you aren't confident in what you are wearing it is going to show on your face and in your
mannerisms.

And for my final Do's and DON'Ts for this post, I have some things to tell my friends of the male gender....

Do: Wear long sleeved button up shirts with the sleeves rolled to right below your elbow. Its stylish and very attractive and also gives you a laid-back approachable feel.
DON'T: Wear short-sleeved button up shirts.... EVER. They are just gross and an even BIGGER don't regarding the short-sleeved button in up is DO NOT under any circumstance wear one unbuttoned with a t-shirt underneath. It reminds us of when we were in elementary school and that was the "cool" thing to wear. NEWSFLASH we are no longer in elementary school and that is no longer an acceptable form of dressing.

Do: Wear polos and other collared shirts
And at the top of the men's don't list:

DON'T: NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER (yes that is right I am using 5 evers here)
"pop" your collar. You look like a tacky tool who just got out of his jerk-mobile and has to run back to his frats kegger before all the booze are gone and every one is passed out.

That is all for now! Much love!
